Really, a 30/44 vanilla for 4 mana is almost balanced as it is. Karn is only a 35/45, and he's unique. Plus he combos a bit too well with life resets. 3 mana for a card and +40 attack until the end of the round? 50 with a Stupa out?
Pretty much unanimously agreed upon as crap (unless you're bubbleman.) It gets mentioned fairly often as terrible, mainly due not to it's on color contemporaries but due to offcolor one mana cards. This is probably partially due to Lowly Slime being considered pretty mediocre and Skyrian always being hotly contested, as well as the dark creatures being unilaterally good.

The only suggestion I've seen was by Shuryou, which was to make the increase +5/+5. However, keep in mind that if the +x/+x ability isn't working then we can change it. Citizen started out vanilla and then gained Draw: +2 temp life for every effect you control, if I recall correctly.

I have little opinion on the card, at present. I'll just mention something I feel is true about one cost monsters period:

sXeAndriex Wrote:by examining the common complaints about each color bracket it seems as if there is a unifying belief is that dark monsters are fine. It might be worth considering that this is due to the benefit of high attack over high life at this cost bracket. Considering that the balancing method used in the original on cost overhaul was a desire to create a a set of completely equal abilities, it seems to follow that we can extrapolate that light and grey monsters require stronger abilities to match up. More specifically, grey monsters should have slightly better abilities, with light monsters having better abilities than both other colors. Or, of course, disproportionate stats, but that's a bad idea for many, many reasons and why we barely fiddled with stats in the first thread.

So hey... ever since reading Ruby Quest, MSPA, and my friend's own interactive adventure... I've been kicking the idea of doing one myself. The problem? I can't draw...

Fortunately, Yoru decided she was willing to make my dream a reality by possibly providing art. We've done a decent amount of planning for this, and now we're at the point where we're kind of cautious to continue without knowing that people will be participating in this.

As you may have guessed from the title, the story will be about a robot who becomes self aware. What exactly he does with this new found awareness is completely up to you. I'd go more into this, but it's hard to explain a story that the players themseleves will make in the future...

So, would folks here be interested in participating in an interactive adventure? I'd be writing it and Yoru'd be drawing it. I can't guarantee it will be amazing, I've never done something like this before, but I do think I could do it well, and be entertaining. It's not ready to start yet, but if enough people were interested, we'd do our best to get ready as quickly as possible.

I think we'll do this if we get 4 or more people expressing interest. I'll likely also try and drag some of my friends from elsewhere on the internet to participate in this as well, but if not enough people -here- are interested I'll do it elsewhere... if at all. But yeah, if you're interested, kindly say so. I'd love to bring this story/game to you all!

Edit: So, it looks like there's enough interest to try this (3 people here, one from IRC), so I think we're officially going to try. We're not quite ready to start, but hopefully we will be soon! Thanks for your support, and hopefully we'll get this ball rolling soon!

So hey... ever since reading Ruby Quest, MSPA, and my friend's own interactive adventure...

Dread-El's hidden abilities (chosen at random):
Skip your turn and add 0 counters
Discard a card and add 10 counters (if you have no cards in your hand, it will just add the counters)
Multiply the counters by 1.5
Deal damage to your opponent equal to the number of counters on Dread-el and reset the counters to 15

Dread-El's turn skipping is a huge drawback, and the discarding a card to deal 10 damage isn't good either. The 1/4 chance of dealing damage means you're going to be waiting for it a lot more than you want to, and there's a very real chance it won't go off before the game's over if you pick it too late, or won't go off a second time, if you don't. Either way, you've wasted a lot of turns and discarded cards, plus filled up your effect slot, all for dealing a sort of small amount of damage.

I know the card's cheap, but as is it tends to hurt almost as much as it helps.

You are all pokémon living in the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City. It is a peaceful life of exploring the boundaries of the park, trying to avoid trainers who like to throw rocks at you, and possibly trying to grab a few pieces of bait before getting hit on the head with one of those infernal pokéballs. Of course, this was before you all woke up with a feeling of unease... For some reason, you feel certain that some of your fellow Safari members are plotting against you! Logically, there is only one thing to do, make them all faint before they get to you!

Surviving players (bolded names are "confirmed", meaning they've posted at least once today):

6 votes needed to make someone faint.

Moderating this battle of pokéwits is me, Nurse Joyel (and I just look stunning in this nurse uniform! ...okay, maybe not.). If I happen to find any fainted pokémon, I'll bring them immediately to Fuchsia City's pokécenter, where, through the magic of science, you will all be told everything you need to know about the fainted pokémon.

Rules (Stolen right from Milo's rules, BUT read it again just to make sure and so we get less rules violations =P):
* You can change votes, but be sure to unvote your old target first, to avoid counting mistakes.
* Put all VOTEs and UNVOTEs in bold to make them easier to see.
* If you have a night choice, but for whatever reason prefer not to use it, send the moderator an explicit "no target" PM so we don't keep waiting on you.
* You may not communicate with other players outside of the game's designated thread, on any subject pertaining to the game, unless your role PM explicitly says you can. If it does, take note of who the PM allows you to communicate with, and whether it allows you to do so at any time, or only at night. If the PM doesn't say, the latter is considered normal on our board, but it's good to ask for clarification.
* At night, you may not communicate inside the thread, either. It's fine to communicate in "twilight", the time after there are enough votes for a lynch, but before the moderator finalizes the lynch.
* People not in the game (which includes dead people) may not communicate with people who are in the game, on any subject pertaining to the game.
* Communication in this thread must be obvious. Don't try to cheat the rules by using text of the same color as the background, illegibly small text, etc.
* You may not edit posts once you've made them. If you make a mistake, just let it be, or make a separate post explaining what you meant. (Mafia is an exception to normal forum rules against double-posting.) If you make a mistake that incriminates you... well, too bad!
* You may, however, communicate with the moderator at any time, publicly or by PM. Feel free to do so if you have any questions about the rules or your role. Worst case scenario, I'll tell you you're not allowed to know the answer, and at least you'll know I'm intentionally choosing not to tell you rather than just having forgotten to mention it or assumed it'd be obvious.
* You may not directly quote PMs from the moderator. Paraphrasing is fine. Lying about these paraphrasings is also fine.
* And a small one, but it was necessary last time: if you frequently change your name, like for Halloween or whatever, then your "normal" name must be visible somewhere in your posts. The CMC name field will do.
* Rule infractions will be punished at the moderator's discretion. I probably won't modkill you for a minor accidental mistake, but you'll get a warning (or in the case of unbolded votes, I won't count those).

As an extra "rule"... try not use to much poke-talk (char. char char!), it'll probably annoy most people. You won't get modkilled for this or anything, just keep it in mind.

And an extra reminder to... talk less about mafia in IRC (Not that I'm one to talk). Nothing happened in there I'd consider a major violation, but we should probably tone it down a bit regardless.

And here's the mafia wiki link in case you lot need it again.

Game starts with with day! Happy hunting! And watch out for those trainers!
